Early showers in SK3 did not discourage the over 10,000 fans who descended on the ground. The game saw the hatters beat their point record in the football league and get their third promotion in five years.
County beat Morecambe for the first time since December 2008 to carry on their eleven game unbeaten run. The Shrimps had their hopes of play-offs destroyed by a 3-point reduction earlier in the week.
Three minutes into the game County’s Antoni Sarcevic delivered his corner ball into the box to find Ethan Pye, which was cleared by defender David Tutonda.
The hatters continued their pressure with an early goal from Olaofe, sending Edgeley Park into a frenzy as promotion hopes were turning into an almost certain reality.
Morecambe's trouble continued in the dying embers of the first half when Horsfall bagged his second goal of the season..
HALF-TIME: County 2 (Olaofe, 7; Horsfall, 45 + 4) Morecambe 0
Straight out the tunnel, Lemonheigh-Evans looked to put the game to bed with a shot from the edge of the box that deflected off half time substitute Yann Songo’o’s shoulder.

As the game was coming to a close County made a triple substitution that saw Louie Barry make his first home appearance since October 2023, much to the pleasure of the Cheadle End that gave him a standing ovation as he jogged onto the field.
Morcambe made their first dangerous attempt in extra time when Joel Senior and Cammy Smith’s attempts went wide of the post.
The full time whistle went and County secured yet another Promotion. Elsewhere Wrexham followed suit ensuring their rivalry will be carried over into the 24/25 season.
